New Moon #fridayfling

A New Moon occurs when the Moon and the Sun are in the same Sign of the Zodiac. The Sun lights up the back of the Moon, making it unable, for us, (down here on earth), to see it.

NewMoon

It is the phase of the Moon to begin new projects, make important phones calls, write-up new proposals, and, initiate new endeavours.

Thought you’d get up early.
Flit the day away.

Sneak away,
before the effects of
Friday’s new moon,
got you movin’and shakin,’
starting that thing you wanted to do,
calling those guys you wanted meet,
signing off on that sale you made,
before reading it … just one more time.

But,  you (returned).
Snuggled back into bed.
Chased away the blues,
with a coffee instead.

Tossing and turning, the tides pulled you out,
pushed you back in again.
Sweeping through your thoughts,
each time, bringing clarity to the moment,
when the sun would set,
the moon would peak,
and you would start your day.

Some of us lean a little more to white wines in the summer. Needing to pick one up tonight, after listening to this! Thank you

We exist in an environment of sensory perception.

Humans have always tried to “grab” what ever appealed to them and savor it in a way that suits them. If its too loud, one turns it down; too hot, one waits or cools it down; too bitter, one adds sweetener, etc… .

It seems that we are always trying to improve all our sensory experiences to suit our individual tastes.

  • Recorded sound (i.e. music): mono>stereo>quad>Qsound, etc…
  • Visual (i.e. films): black & white>color>3D, etc…
  • Comfort (i.e. clothing): functionality>convenience>fashion
  • Taste (i.e. food): heat>seasoning>presentation>pairing, etc…

We are always trying to enhance our experience. After playing wine festivals, house parties and doing this with both live AND recorded music for years, I have developed a very enjoyable addition to my professional services with this particular pairing.

I am presenting this four part CBC radio series, The Grapes Of Jazz I did awhile ago.

yessir, I’ll be careful

yesssir I’ll be careful, in dark, and cold, and night.
walking streets I’ve never known.
over shoulders, looking at bullies, beauties, and, beasts …
I’ll tip-toe past… with quiet, velvet pointed steps,
prance through puddles.
shimmy through grass,
tread softly over gravel,
to home.

yessir, I’ll be careful, when driving cars on rainy nights.
slowing on yellows and stopping on reds,
dodging drops, with blades on high.
sloshing tires through murky puddles,
looking under parked cars for tiny feet,
playful paws,
running to dodge the rain.

silently sneaking, squeezing through the window.
announced by happy dogs, sleepy cats, bells and whistles,
telling all
I’m home!

yessir, I’ll be careful when (while) growing up.
learning to read,
following my dream,
falling in love.

But, where will you be (sir), if the tire goes flat,
the blades break, or, the paws run the wrong way in the rain?
Will that window be open, if I’m slow to read,
get lost in my dream,
leave you, to fall in love, love,
love… ?
